How Does it Work?

Achieve a 0.15 U-Value with Confidence...

After thoroughly reviewing U-value calculations across a wide range of available insulation products, we discovered that timber warm roof systems not using our specified materials consistently fail to meet the required standards.

For this reason, we have tried and tested a number of alternative build-ups before ultimately settling on the Thermacore warm roof make-up, which reliably achieves the necessary performance requirements.

Achieve a 0.15 U-Value with Confidence...

After a comprehensive review of U-value calculations across a wide range of commercially available insulation products, we found that many timber warm roof systems currently on the market do not achieve the U-value requirements set out in UK building regulations.

For this reason, we have tried and tested a number of alternative build-ups before ultimately settling on the Thermacore warm roof make-up, which reliably achieves the necessary performance requirements.

High-Performance Insulation...

Every ThermaCore roof is pre-fitted with 90mm PIR insulation boards, one of the leading insulation solutions on the market, and pre-fitted with SuperFOIL SF40, a high-performance, multi-layer reflective insulation that acts as a 3-in-1 solution for thermal insulation, radiant barrier, and vapour control.

We use 12.5mm fol-backed plasterboard, with the foil backing acting as a moisture barrier, providing added protection and helping maintain a dry, healthy internal environment.

Why Choose Timber Over Aluminium?

Proven Over Centuries...

Timber has stood the test of time! It has been used in construction for hundreds of years. It remains the preferred material in traditional roofing due to its natural strength, insulation properties, and long-term reliability.

Built Like a Real Roof...

Our roof is designed to perform like a traditional home roof, not a conservatory upgrade - here's how we do it:

-Timber rafters, just like in a standard house build!

-Built in thermal break meaning no condensation traps, no compromise!

This design ensures lasting performance, energy efficiency, and complete peace of mind - for both installers and homeowners.

  • Timber rafters, just like in a standard house build!

  • Built in thermal break meaning no condensation traps, no compromise!

  • Timber is significantly less thermally conductive than aluminium

This design ensures lasting performance, energy efficiency, and complete peace of mind - for both installers and homeowners.

Timber is also significantly less thermally conductive than aluminium, making it a far more effective material choice for warm roof construction. By reducing thermal bridging, timber helps retain heat within the structure and minimises cold spots where condensation is most likely to form.

This improved thermal performance not only enhances overall energy efficiency but also plays a critical role in controlling interstitial condensation, protecting the roof build-up and extending the lifespan of the system.

The Problem with Aluminium In Roofs...

In our experience, many aluminium roof systems present significant thermal challenges, including:

  • Direct hot and cold bridging through aluminium ring beams and rafters

  • Direct hot and cold bridging through aluminium ring beams and rafters

  • Poor or inadequate ventilation strategies, raising the risk of condensation

Condensation forming on cold aluminium components is a well-documented concern. In some systems, timber cladding is applied above and below aluminium rafters, which can mask, rather than resolve, the underlying issue. Over time, trapped moisture may be absorbed into the surrounding timber, potentially leading to rot, mould growth, and long-term degradation of the roof structure

With its lightweight timber construction, the ThermaCore Warm Roof is easy to install without compromising strength or performance. It provides superior energy efficiency, keeping your space comfortable year-round while reducing heating and cooling costs. The ThermaCore Warm Roof is fully compliant with UK Building Regulations, ensuring safety and peace of mind for your customers!

To meet the latest energy-efficiency standards, we pre-fit SuperFOIL SF40 in the upper section of the roof pod between the 90 mm PIR insulation and the OSB board, creating a thermal break, preventing any hot and cold transfer and subsequent condensation build up.

Get Answers to Your Questions...

Get Answers to Your Questions...

What does a ThermaCore warm roof come with?

A ThermaCore Warm roof comes to site 80% complete, the only things you will need to complete the installation are fixings to fix the roof to the house wall, lead flashing and plaster to finish inside!

Can I get Installation Training?

Yes, we offer guided installs! We also have a technical helpline, so anytime you have a question, we have an answer!

Do your U-Values meet the regs?

Yes, we meet building regs for U-values in England, Wales and Scotland and we are prepared for the next increase due in 2025!

Wat makes the ThermaCore Warm Roof different from other roof systems?

Firstly, it’s made from timber so is up to 800 times less conductive than aluminium meaning there is no hot and cold bridging and no condensation issues. It has also been designed so no insulated-plasterboard is needed to hit the all-important 0.15 U-Value, so our roofs can be finished with a 12.5mm Plasterboard!

Do you offer different tiles?

The ThermaCore Warm Roof comes as standard with Britmet shingles or liteslates. Ther Low Pitch Roof is finished with our Low pitch roof sheets, but can supply different tiles if required (including concrete tiles if the supporting structure is strong enough for the additional weight)

How do I survey for one of your roofs?

Just like traditional conservatory, we base everything on internal frame sizes. It is always best to provide the correct pitch as well, but we can help with that!

Is it Building Control approved?

Every Thermacore Warm Roof has been independently tested and certified by LABC. We also handle all building control matters in-house, so if your project requires submission to building control, just let us know - we’ll take care of everything.
